I just had a better visual of what Alan Weisman described in his book “The World Without Us” when he referred to all the plastic and garbage that was dumped into the oceans.
this website has some disturbing images of fish cuaght strangled in torn pieces of net etc.
It makes sense now why it took rescue workers so long to find any sign of the aircraft or anything on board. the floating junk must be overwhelming. And what is even more disturbing is that the plane didnt crash into one of the 5 world trash islands. trash islands? that sounds too horrible to be real. how would this affect the local maritime populations, their productivity, their survival, their right to life. Why arent proper recycling methods being implemented even with all the technologies we have?
