Reading the news last week about the fires and droughts and floods – due to human-caused climate change – and the persistence deliberate ignorance on behalf of the press, I felt quite sad. And sadness alone does not allow for hope. And all I felt was sad — with some anger directed at my own species.
Today, even amidst the commemoration of the murder of the great Ghassan Kanafani 40 years ago today… even amidst the ongoing ravages of climate change … amidst the news of racism… Today, reading the news, I found glimmers of hope again. Resistance. Organizing.
Here is some of that news (there is much more)
- Farmers Continue Fight Against Monsanto
Appeal filed to reverse Feb. decision allowing “Monsanto’s scorched earth legal campaign of threats and intimidation against America’s farmers” to continue - In Blow to Big Pharma, India to Hand Out Generics
- Abandoned Walmart Recycled As Public Library
- Israel Divestment Campaigns Gain Momentum in U.S.
The struggle for justice continues – in small corners around the world, and in our steadfastness
Out of love. Out of beauty. For hope.
