stop using toilet paper? stop hosing the street?

back to discussions of toilet paper. yes.

there are other options.  Now, what are the [environmental] costs of this other option relative to the [environmental] costs of continuing to use toilet paper (recycled or virgin)? ah…

…on another note, this morning, on my way to work at 5.30 am, I saw one of the doorman of the Commodore Hotel actually hose the road, not the sidewalk, the road (Commodore Street!). Why? Spraying the road with water? Why? Particularly why when we are a water-stressed country. ayyy

  1. Yes, me too, I see a lot of people hose the streets, and sometimes it is funny since they do it on rainy days. I used to live in Australia and no one is allowed to hose the street, not even wash the car and they have water restrictions and people are only allowed to use the hose on certain days like Wednesday and only in the afternoon. Howerver here in Lebanon noone cares “kil shi bi balesh kater meno”. Lets hope one day the government would wake up and start to put laws to protect our water supply, i think we should drive our attention to preserving water more than anything

  2. I totally agree with you that washing the streets is a sad waste of resources but I respectfully disagree with you on the toilet paper issue.
First, we still have to use paper to dry off at the end of the process. Second, we will be wasting another important resource, which is water. Third, the idea of washing my bottom in a public restroom gives me goosebumps.
Isn’t it easier to just use less toilet paper?

  3. No matter how many rolls of toilet paper you are going to use, the smell is going to stay.
Only water can remove that smell.
    Learn to use water.

  4. You are so right Hakim, and the best way to do that is with a Hand Bidet Sprayer. I got mine at bathroom sprayers .com and installed it myself, easy. I don’t even need toilet paper now, just a towel, it’s great!

  5. Watch this and pass it on please!
