buy your mom flowers?

So, this Sunday will be Mother’s Day. The typical gift is flowers. Before you do buy her flowers, ask the florist for local flowers. It is much better, as this article explains, to buy locally grown flowers than to buy flowers that have to be flown from across the world. And, yalla, while you’re buying local, buy flowers from a small-scale florist as well.

  1. First let me say happy mothers’ day to all mothers in the world since they are truly a gift from heaven. As for the matter of flowers sure they are always a great gift at most celebrations. However it is really ignorant and dumb to plant a flower in one place and ship it to another miles away. If we dont consider labor and wages let’s only consider nature alone. In my opinion there must be a reason for why vegetation is diverse in the world. The shipment of these flowers can cause alot of pollution due to the plane can really affect the ozone layer. Not only that, but we have our own flowers in our countries that are much nicer than the ones abroad. Let us for once stand by our economy and choose national flowers. In addition to that, intoducing new vegetation to new soil and ecosystem can really damage the whole thing.

  2. mother’s day was sunday??? i thought it was saturday???? either ways happy mothers day to all of you ot there, and i have to agree to local flowers, shipping and buying expensive ones… what a waste of time and energy.

  3. Why buy foreign flowers if we have a lot of local ones, anyway that is the first time that i hear about natural flowers being brought from overseas. I guess that people are becoming a lot ignorant about everything.
If we buy local flowers, we develop our economy, help local florists, and save a lot of money. on the other hand if people are shipping abroad flowers to Lebanon, why don’t we ship Lebanese flowers abroad!!!!🙂

  5. I think it is right to say that we should choose to buy local flowers rather than imported ones. I believe a major problem is in the mass cultivation of flowers; in flower farms, we are growing the plants in order to cut their flowers. Plenty of resources are used, and ecosystems are affected… However, in addition to that, the international trade of flowers can be considered as a waste of resources and energy, eventhough this loss is still limited when compared to the shipment of other goods and commodities.

  6. Thanks for the wonderful information. It is appreciated.

  7. Thanks for the advice, I will be ready for this mother’s day
