climate change in the Arab World

Note: I haven’t read this report yet , but I wasn’t impressed with the previous report’s methodology. So, my advice is to read this report carefully

Arab Environment: Impact of Climate Change on the
Arab Countries’ (AFED) Report 2009
‘Impact of Climate Change on the Arab Countries’ is the second of a series of annual reports produced by the Arab Forum for Environment and Development (AFED). The first, released in 2008 under the title ‘Arab Environment: Future Challenges’, covered the most pressing environmental issues facing the region. The 2009 AFED report is designed to provide information to governments, business, academia and the public about the impact of climate change on the Arab countries, and encourage concrete action to face the challenge.
The report analyzes the Arab response to the urgent need for adaptation measures, and uses the latest research findings to describe the vulnerabilities of natural and human systems in the Arab world to climate change and the impacts on different sectors. In an attempt to help shape adequate policies, the report discusses options for a post-Kyoto regime and outlines the state of international negotiations in this regard.

  1. After reading this article i really don’t have much to say because i was shocked. The only think that i believe should be a responce to such article is to solve the impact of climate change and its impacts.
For i read this article and thought that i much change a few things in my life cycle,so many others that read this article should also do so.

  2. This article is quite enlightening in the measure where it shows conrete changes that will happen to our live and to our environment. It is a bit scary to realize that all these changes will be happening here, to us.
More precisely, the fact that the coastal region will be the one affcted by the rise of the sea level freaks me out because I live on the coast. I wonder when will people really realize the importance of acting. Is it when the houses will be flooded with water or – refering to Dr. Rania’s saying in her office – when the last fish will be caught?
