eating animals

i’m reading the book ‘eating animals’ now… quite interesting and important, and to be added to the list of other excellent books on why we eat what.

check it out -> http://www.eatinganimals.com/

keep in mind this simple fact: “Animal agriculture makes a 40% greater contribution to global warming than all transportation in the world combined; it is the number one cause of climate change.”

so what are you eating?

  3. i think what we eat has become what we eat because of some kind of natural selection. Meaning that our ancestors tasted everything and tried everything and the best source of food was transfered from one generation to the other. Leaving at the end what has become our relieable source of food and the known animals to be eaten..IN fact we need to eat meat, and it’s not wrong to kill animals for their meat.Of course this esclavation of food need to be more organised but no one can say we shouldnt kill animals for their meat. On the other hand in the same book the author compared dogs to fishes and i really liked his sarcastic comparison but then again our ancestors way of selecting the best food sources made the fishes a reliable source of food and ignored dogs however we found another useful objective for this animal which is to make it our loyal conpagnion.

  4. “we are not eating turkey when we think we are”.actually most peole do no know what they are eating and this is a big problem in our century.Television and marketing have changed the eating habits in a way that people do not think about what they eat , what could cntain of toxic and unaccepted material and how is this food processed before being put into marketing…

  5. We tolerate birds eating bees, but not birds eating OUT bees. Thus it is not enough to state that animals eat animals so that we explain our unbalanced abuse of other species simply because we are able to. Nature has found its revenge: global warming, mankind’s gravest threat, going vegetarian is one of the most effective ways to fight it and one of the threats of eating animals is: raising animals for their meat is the SINGLE LARGEST source of methane and nitrous oxide, as well as one of the biggest source of CO2 emission.. The best way to fight global warming is to stop eating meat, eggs and dairy product… simply be healthy, nature friendly, be a vegetarian!
