from carbon sink to carbon source?

Perhaps I should be blogging about Cairo, what I’ve seen, heard, ate, etc., but I’m still “digesting” it all.  I’ll write later.

In the meantime, I want to share this study:

Sink to source – the loss of biodiversity’s greatest ecosystem service

Excerpt:” Exacerbated by massive insect outbreaks, increasing fragmentation and greater fire frequency, this means that at least the western boreal region of Canada could become a net carbon source in the foreseeable future, thus precipitating the loss of one of the planet’s most important ecosystem services – climate change mitigation via balancing the carbon budget.”

sigh…
