Gaza: no passive tense in the attacks. Israel is the aggressor not an unknown force

Notice how the West reports on the Israeli massacres in Gaza.

Rare to see the doer identified. Somehow these people die. Or are mysteriously killed.

Note this headline by the Guardian: Gaza air strikes kill 20 Palestinians

uh – did the air strikes issue themselves? did the military machinery decide, on their own resolve, to fly over Gaza and cause the killing?

Then it gets better. The second sentence in that article reads:

Boy, 12, among dead as Israeli PM says forces have ‘extracted a very high price’ and rockets are fired into Israel from Gaza

One gets the idea that the deaths are equal, somehow.  Air strikes and rockets.

How about if the headline were accurate: Israeli air strikes kill 18 Palestinians, including a 12-year-old boy.

And how about if the second sentence were to read: Israel attacks besieged Gaza, inciting rockets that injury no one.

Note how the West writes when a Palestinian injures an Israeli: the doer is identified, the tense used is an active tense, no passivity here.

Or, the Palestinian injured or killed by an Israeli is not even considered to be human. As in this headline by the Sydney Morning Herald: Israeli airstrikes kill 15 Gaza militants.  They are not human: they are militants.

And what is a militant anyway? One defnition is one who is “vigorously active and aggressive in support of a cause.” Hell, yes, they are militants, and proudly so! They are vigorously active and aggressive in support of the liberation of their land and people! As is their moral and legal right!

The only common factor in the way that the ‘Western press’ write about the attacks is that in both cases no context is given.  The Israeli attacks against Palestinians are crimes of occupation, violations of international law. The Palestinian attacks against Israeli are acts of self-defense and attempts at liberation.  And, in one hand, there is one of the most powerful military forces in the world, and, in the other hand, there is an almost-defenseless people, equipped with their resilience and sense of justice.
