This past Wednesday, I was one of four speakers at a panel organized by the NC Coalition for Peace with Justice. The topic: Palestine. We had a full house (approximately 100 attendees).

I have been deeply touched by the comments I have received by those who have seen the talk, most particularly by Palestinians in Palestine; their comments have strengthened my position on the narrative I have chosen. There is a critical need for all of us who support justice, who oppose apartheid, who support equality, who oppose racism to speak from a position of strength and not from a defensive, apologetic position. Rather than responding to the framing of the argument designed by Zionists – and other supports of dehumanization, colonization, and racism – there is greater power in creating our own frame: one centered in justice, in truth, in resilience.
